Van Allen Plexico

Van Allen Plexico is the award-winning and Amazon-best-selling author of thirteen novels and numerous short stories, novellas, columns and essays from a variety of publishers. He is best known for chronicling the adventures of the SENTINELS in a popular series of illustrated superhero novels. His gothic space opera novel, LEGION III: KINGS OF OBLIVION, won "Novel of the Year" at the 2015 Pulp Factory Awards, and PRIDE OF THE MOHICANS, a collection of adventure stories he edited, won “Best Anthology." His two ASSEMBLED! books, exploring the history and characters of Marvel's Avengers, have raised thousands of dollars for charity, and he was selected by the Rittenhouse Archives to write the year-by-year history of the Avengers for Upper Deck’s commemorative trading card set. The book he co-authored on Auburn football, DECADES OF DOMINANCE, climbed as high as third on Amazon’s Sports best-seller rankings in 2013. His first published comic book story, "The Devil You Know," appeared in ALL-STAR PULP COMICS #2 in 2013. His creation, “General John Blackthorn,” won Best New Character in the 2012 Pulp Ark Awards. He has written the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Mars McCoy and Lance Star for Airship 27, and Monster Aces, the Griffon and the military SF serial ALPHA/OMEGA for Pro Se Press, among many other characters and works. He hosts the biweekly pop culture interview program "The White Rocket Podcast" for the Earth Station One Network, and the AU Wishbone Podcast for the War Eagle Sports Radio network. He has appeared as a guest, panelist, moderator and special event host at over one hundred science fiction, comics and pop culture conventions, literary/book festivals and popular arts festivals (and counting), and he has also appeared as a character in a Farscape novel and in Marvel's Iron Man comics. In his spare time, he serves as Associate Professor of History and Political Science at Southwestern Illinois College.
